The Chat Request System

To prevent spam and unwanted contact, Qerios utilizes a strict chat request system.

• The Workflow: When a user initiates a conversation, it starts as a "PENDING" request.
• Your Choice: You have the authority to "ACCEPT" or "DECLINE" any incoming request.
• Privacy: Until you accept a request, the other user cannot send you further messages. Once accepted, you can both engage in a private, encrypted-session conversation.

Features for Secure Communication

We have built our DM system with both functionality and security in mind:

• Real-time Interaction: Conversations are powered by Ably WebSockets, ensuring seamless, real-time communication.
• Conversation Tools: Within a conversation, you can utilize message editing and soft-deletion if you make a mistake or change your mind about what you have sent.
• Convenience: We support read receipts to keep you informed, as well as a reply-to feature within conversations to keep threads organized.
• Content Sharing: You can securely share sketches, music cards, and public answers within your DMs.

Best Practices for DM Safety

• Be Selective: Only accept chat requests from people you know or trust.
• Report Violations: If a user sends harmful or inappropriate content after you have accepted their request, please use the reporting system immediately.
• Block & Mute: You can block or mute users at any time. Blocking is a mutual action that prevents further interaction.
• Protect Personal Info: Even in private conversations, be mindful about sharing sensitive information like phone numbers or addresses.
